Is there anything I Should take into account while updating the firmware on a safety processor?
I have a 1756-L61S running version 17 and need to upgrade to version 20 to be able to use IO-Link Devices. I have a spare 1756-L61S and 1756-LSP that I have flashed to version 20 and I have downloaded the latest project file to it (also converted to version 20). I see that the Safety Signature needs to be regenerated. I also know I'll need to check the release notes for version 20 to see if any anomalies are present that may affect the operation.
Am I missing anything? Is this really as simple as just swapping for the updated firmware processor and checking for compatibility or am I missing a bunch of steps?
I've been reading other post's on the forum about updating safety components but they seem to be more involved, changing out large portions of safety circuits, etc.
