PLC_Software

Hi guys.
I am working with lot of machines using PLC and HMI.
Time to time my life would be easier if I can download (make backup) and monitor PLC software, so.
Question- every PLC controller uses his own software, or I can use universal sowtware to do that?

I want to download lader programmas for controllers:
B&R (CP 476)
Omron
Siemens (200/300)

There is no Universal software.

Not only is there not universal software that supports multiple platforms, but the two PLC's from Siemens that you mentioned (200/300) can't even be programmed by the same package.

There is something called codesys which is a programming environment used by a few different vendors, but I think they each customize it to suit their own hardware. It is closer to universal, but you still need to get it from each vendor, and only supports the products that vendors build support for.

Some of the major player are trying to make this better like with studio 500 and TIA portal but there is still a long ways to go.
